I just purchased a 89 2.3 convertible. The newer 2.3 has about 20 more hp, and more compression. Is the additional horsepower due only to the the compression increase, or were there other changes? I know by changing to a MAF system would also give a little more power.

How was the compression increased, pistons/cylinder head?

Thanks. :) joe

The pistons are the same. The combustion chamber has a different shape to accomodate the dual plug setup which is probably the reason for the compression difference. I don't know this as fact, just citing my observations.
