I highly doubt it was the venom that did it. He basically got a serrated knife to the heart, then pulled it out. I've been stung by a stingray. Very, very unpleasent. It made me very, very sick.
It is very ironic, but he was playing with one of the world's deadliest stingrays. I also read that it is very rare for someone to die from a stingray's barb. His case was very unusual. It was a very sad way for him to die and I am afraid a bit to soon also. He left behind his wife and his children as well. RIP Steve Irwin
FYI, all day marathon of Croc Hunter on Animal Planet today. When are they going to air his final footage?
Air his final footage?.. as in... When he was swimming with the stingray that killed him? I may just have to watch part of that marathon
I doubt they will ever show it. Very rarley people are killed by stigrays. When they do it's usually from an allergic reaction to the venom, but not the actuall venom or the wound from the barb. Of all the deadly animals Steve Irwin messed with, what are the odds. Then again, I saw a video once of a F16 taken out by a bluejay once. So, what do you know.
If I heard correctly, it was his testament that the footage of his undoing be aired. The guy was so passionate and altruistic. Truly a good human being.
My brother told me about that Friday night, but I didn't think he was being serious! I would be very shocked if they showed it, but it would only be right since he requested it.
stingray death... not a croc, didnt see that coming The crazy thing about it is that last summer I went to the Cayman Islands and took a boat to stingray city, an area that is full of wild stingrays. I jumped into the 20 ft deep water and dove down with squid and I swear to god the damn things will come up and sit on your arms and just float with you. I have video of all of it. How can a guy who wrestles 20 foot crocs and insanely deadly snakes, IN SHORTS MIND YOU, be taken down by one of these things? As for the entire thing about him be mean to animals or whatever, I cant think of any other person who has brought the idea of animal conservation to millions of children around the world.
