I found a thread on this site dealing with cryo tempering but had a few questions for anyone who has intimate knowledge.

My company has sent out tooling, bits, etc to be cryo tempered so I’m familiar with the process and benefits.

Here is my question: Since the engine internals are made of different metals, and different metals have different coefficients of expansion, would you need to completely disassemble the block in order to have it cryo tempered? (block, rods, pistons, etc) I would think if you left all the pistons, etc in the block and had it tempered, something would crack. I really don’t have time to take my engine apart and send it out. I was hoping it could be done all in one shot. I get the feeling it wouldn’t work though. Any thoughts?
