Dealer ordered my GT as a 05, Thought they were already ordering 06's

Finally went down to the dealership and ordered my stang. A Windveil Blue Delux, with not one option. I managed to get A plan on it. The VOC has my price as $23065.84. Thanks to my mother-in-law. The dealer told me he had to order as a 05, but the chances of it are slim, and it would most likely be a 06. It gave me a Priority 10 on the paper. Is there a chance I'll be getting a 05? I'd much prefer a 06, hoping the some of the bugs are worked out. Also What do I need to check on the status of the order.
    Thanks
Tried to edit title to say Thought they were already ordering 06's

I would follow-up with the dealer. I ordered an 06 last week. I would say the chances of it being an '05 are slim. I've heard any '05 orders not produced will have to be reordered as '06's. I figure it's better to order an '06 from the get go.

do you rally think they re-tooled any machines just because the model year changed on the best selling, hottest car Ford has had in years? The only thing they will change is the color of the paint and the sticker inside the door jam.

05 or 06, same car, although if I was ordering now I would want an 06, getting an 05 now would be like getting a used car.

My understanding is that although dealers are taking customer orders for 06s, they cannot enter those orders into the Ford system. I heard that the 06 order banks will open on June 15, but can't confirm that.

To elaborate on waht REDFIRE said, the only changes to the 06 Mustang GT are:

    2 new paint colors
    2 new 18" wheel options
    The VIN #
The sticker on the door jam
might be changes to the "badges" - not confirmed

At this point, I'd want an 06 too.

I ordered mine last week and have a DORA with an order number. Computer lady says it's "clean and unscheduled".

Here is the 1-800 number to call and see and check your cars status:
    1-800-962-3746

Just call and put in the info they ask. Make sure you have your order number and dealer code your dealer code will be something listed as Dealer:F21018 all they need is the numerical digits not the "F". I had to ask my dealer for my Order number but the rest of the info should be listed on your vehicle order confirmation sheet. Hope this helps out. IOf you just ordered it dont be suprised to get a "Clear and Unscheduled" status it was 10 weeks before I heard "Order has been serialized" then a day or so and it came back as "Build date set for June 13" which is tomorrow wooohoooo! I would check with the dealer to see what exactly your getting a 2005 or 2006 because you will need the year of the mustang when you call the 800 number, but there it is for ya.

    Has anyone confirmed that yet?

Hey, Ford even made several changes going from the '03 to the '04. One would have thought that by '03, there would not be anything left to change. :D

OK, My DORA says Priority 99. How bad is that? I ordered my '06 on 6/8 and my dealer said I might see it in January '06!

The order bank is open for 06' models, and actually I see last years trend starting all over again. Customers not wanting to order because they will just wait until we have them at the dealership!!!! We already have almost 15 orders for 06' models.

Depends on the dealer allocation and the number of units already scheduled for the balance of the of production run. And the luck of the order pull! If you really want on '06, why don't you tell the dealer that is what you want?

Well, just look at early 05s to more recent 05s. They're different (i.e. Gas tanks). Some issures that arose prior to some later production runs were taken care of at the factory. If you look at some TSBs, you won't just see "2005 Ford Mustang," insteasd you'll see "2005 Ford Mustangs built prior to..." This indicates that any car produced after that date does not have the issue.

I'm sure the 06s will have any 05 TSB addressed before being released. This isn't really a model change, but a change nonetheless

Priority 99 is a code used by a dealer to hold the order indefinitely. Priority 99's do not get built. Best a dealer can give you is Priority 10. I have an '06 on order and I am Priority 45. Wish I was better, but the dealer told me there are already 5 '06 orders ahead of me and I ordered 10 days after the banks opened.

I'd call your dealer and ask them why they haven't given you higher priority.

Is that the sticker on the car or your price? If it's your price, what was the sticker?

My 05GT vert sonic blue manual IUP deluxe
    ordered 6/13/05
    DORA 6/13/05
scheduled for build week of 7/18
At this point can I just sit back and anticipate its arrival or do I still need to be concerned whether or not it will even be built?

Go back and read the topic and my comments again.

This topic is about the Mustang GT NOT the V6. :bang:

Got off the phone with the dealership, and he said the order banks are closed on the 05's, and mine will be a 06. He said the order book has not been open on the 06's but mine would be the first for the dealership. He said it should be before the end of July when he can place the order. How are some of you already getting DORA's? Since I have never seen one, only The VOC that I got when I first ordered, does it include pricing information?

I'm starting to think that possibly dealerships in different regions get different dates they can do things? I just don't know.
