i posted this the night i ran, but i didnt get too many responses, i was wondering for what my car is, are my times slow? i ran a 9.4 @ 77mph (1/8th) .510 reaction time, 2.2 60 foot, i know the 60 foot could come down to a 2.0 and the times would drop but besides that what else could i do?

    my car is as follows
    88Gt
    fms pullies
    3.73's
    k&n filter
(stock headers) 2 highflow cats 2.5" all the way back to flowmasters
    14* timing
removed silencer etc etc, car was on street tires

i have some bbk shortys i never put on, would they be worth putting on?

thanks guys just wondering what u guys ran when u were pretty much stock
also my next tires would probaly be some nittos how much could i expect the time to drop?

    thanks in advance :flag:

I'm not sure about your times. I'm not really familiar with 1/8 mile times. But they don't sound too bad for what your cars got. I'd definately put the BBK's on. They're not the best header out there, but I got a noticable gain from them on my stang.

u need to get that reaction time down below .500 which can be done by taking off when the second light is about to dissappear. Second, that will probably bring ur 60 ft down to a 2.0. Third, put an aluminum driveshaft on the car and get a nice shifter like a hurst. That should get u moving down the track a little quicker without modding the motor at all.

i thought .500 was a perfect light? either way r/t doesnt affect e.t. and i am taking off 3rd yellow, i planned on getting a short shifter, after a new clutch cable/adjuster, right now my clutch wont disengage its super hard to get it into gear sometimes, also in the staging lanes i had to hold up the e-brake otherwise i'd roll out of the beams :notnice:

Keep the stock headers on,they work the best until your HP starts getting up around the 270 area, other wise you will lose some low end torque!! With pratice your 60's will drop,1.9,,1.8 would be cool :nice:

u think 1.9's are possible on street tires? maybe i could pull one out of my ass somehow, u guys reccomend dropping the tire pressure at all on street tires?

First thing I'd do is get some traction. Put a set of BFG or MT dot's on an old set of 10-hole rims. The rims are dime-a-dozen in the junkyards for cheap....

Going by my first run, the last time I was at the track 2 Friday's ago, that's about a 14.4 run or so, which isn't all that bad at all.

A little more practice launching the car (getting the 60' times down), and you're knocking on the 13's.

    Good luck, dude! :nice:

Not bad times for what you have done to your car. That's about what I ran when I had about the same mods.

thanks for all the responses, tony i'd love to do that eventually but for now i'm kinda strapped for cash, do u guys honsetly thing 1.9's are possible on street tires? i know i could bring it down, i just didnt think that much. my stock clutchcable is done so i'm gonna get an oem cable w/some sorta aftermarket adjusteur/quadrant for christmas, then a short shifter and practice practice practice.... one more thing, after my street tires are done, would it be worth getting some nittos for everyday driving, or should i just get a pair of 10 holes with some bfg's ?

    When my 94gt was stock i managed a 9.7 @ 72mph with a 2.331 60'...

    R/T 1.103
    60' 2.331
    1/8 9.792
    MPH 72.36
    1/4 15.159
    mph 91.62

My guess is you spun after the 60' line or you are not shifting at the right points or just plain shifting slow. The MPH is good though!

About 5K, maby a little higher. Usually you can tell wen the motor "falls off" and judge from there. Just do a little trail and error. I got a 1.9 once on a set of 225/60R15 Pepboys tires on my old turbines. Full drag suspension and nitto's on 275/40R17's and I can only get 1.8's, imagine that. Need more sidewall I think.
