The door in my wifes cavalier has a bit of a problem when shutting it. Last year when she bought it it shut fine. Now you have to slam it to get it to shut. I dont think it sags but it may. What can i Change to make the doors shut like a new car again?

mustangs have a door striker on the inside (back) of the door opening. if the cavalier is similar (it probably is) than loosten the striker and readjust it further inward. you may need a Torx (star pattern) bit, similar in design to an allen wrench.

Step one: Try lifting the outer edge of the door to see if there is slack in the hinge pins. If there is replace the bushings & pins

Step two: You can adjust the striker bolt to raise or lower the point at which the door latch engages it. The striker bolt may have an odd torx head on it, so be prepared to make a trip to the auto parts store to get one.
