as i'm researching different parts and combinations while i'm pulling my car apart, i just assumed i should stick with an EFI setup when i put the stroked 351 back into my car. a good friend of mine hit me up with the idea today not to rule out running a carb instead of using an EFI setup. he's a VERY knowledgeable engine guy (although his focus in BBC) and can always back up his statements with mathematical fact. i guess my question is.......
what is ya'lls opinion of running a carb vs staying with EFI? keeping in mind i live in NV and will have to pass a sniff test annually.
his opinion is that for overall streetability and MPG concerns, the EFI would be the ticket. BUT, where more of a performance setup is desired the carb setup would probably yield better numbers. he also told me carbs are easier to setup, tune and maintain than an EFI setup.
i don't know beans about carb setups. i just assumed that using carbs was old technology and i'd be going backwards by using one. he claims that's not necessarily the case. i really do trust his opinion but just wanted to run this by some of you that have "been there, done that" and get some opinions.
whatchya think???
