Hey guys,

Looking for some advice. Bought a motor from a guy who said he had it all setup but not assmebled.

So bearing clearances, rings, balance are all done.

My issue is that the counterweight is hitting the bottom of the piston before BDC. Before I take it to the machine shop do you think this can be fixed or am I going to be looking for at a minimum a new crank/rods?

I can't believe the piston is making contact with the crank. A 347 is such a common build that I can't see that being an issue on any quality kit.

The most common problem is that the con rod bolts hit the bottom edges of the cylinder bores on 347 stroker engines.
The 347 uses a piston with a very short skirt, what some people might call a slipper piston.

See Ford 347 Stroker Engine Build - Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords Magazine for a very good article on how to build a 347 stroker engine. There are lots of pictures, including clearancing the block and rod bolt problem.
