Engine choices, 331 or 347??

Yeah, exactly what I'm looking for. Great all around car, street torque monster that sometimes see's the track. I wouldn't mind running low 12's high 11's all motor, and I think it should be possiable from a 347 with decent compression, seeing how I ran a 12.9 with my old motor and still had room for improvement, stock shortblock w/ e-cam, the top end mentioned earlier and pretty much stock fuel system.

I think what I'm leaning towards after some more reading is the CHP 347 kit, balanced to 28oz with 10.5:1 compression, and running the Comp extreme engery cam http://www.compcams.com/Technical/Search/CamDetails.asp?PartNumber=35-310-8 or http://www.compcams.com/Technical/Search/CamDetails.asp?PartNumber=35-514-8. Thomas, how are those 4.30 gears? Did you always have them or did you switch to them from a smaller gear? My car needs 4.30's badly, i'm crossing the traps WAY too low with these 3.73's. What was your mph? How is that spool on the street? Sorry for the million questions, but you have stuff that i'm interested in doing and I prefer hearing from experience only ;)

Your combo sounds like a nice one to me with ton's of potential.

How do you go about ording a custom cam, what does the maker go off of to build you the correct cam?

CHP is running a special right now on Street Fight GT kit, http://www.coasthigh.com/Specials/Specials_current.htm. Which seems decent, but I was noticing that kit has a rod lenght of 5.400" where as the non-GT kit has a rob length of 5.315". Not sure if it's better to go with the shorter rod for $400 more, that looks to be the only difference between the two kits.
 
Give Comp Cams a call. I think they actually have cams designed specifically for stroker 331/347's now. Wouldn't hurt to at least call about a custom cam either; price difference between the two isn't a lot, and the performance gain of a custom might be worth the extra money to you.
