engine code display

Is there an easy way to display engine codes or do I need to buy a code reader?

Forget the readers and all the equipment. Our cars are still simple to deal with and here is a link to a page where you can do it with simple tools and it even has diagrams and code listings.

there is an even easier way to do it but i forgot how right now. all you need is a piece of wire and you jump two terminals at the eec connector and then the "check engine" light will flash a certain number of times thus giving you the code. but i forget which two wires it is, i'll remember by the end of the day and post back soon.
