equal length vs. un-equal length headers?

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone out there has any information on the differences on equal and un-equal length shorty headers? I've narrowed it down to the pypes or jba's. The pypes are un-equal and the jba are equal. Is one better than the other. And yes I know most of ya'll are going to tell me "don't do shory headers they are not worth it do long tubes"! I've made up my mind what I'm going to do and I would just like some information on the topic.

Unequal length shorty will give you 1 HP and the equal length will give you 3. You decide. If you're dead set against long tubes take the money for shorty's and put it elsewhere.

I have a buddy that has shorty headers on his car and it changed the exhaust tone to more of a throaty sound. It also revs quicker and pulls harder in 1,2, and 3rd. I have driven mustangs both with long tube and shorty headers. For the money I think it's a nice upgrade with the shorties. Shorty headers will cost me $550 install and everything. Long tubes on the other hand will cost me $1600 all together. I can't imagine spending that much money for 20hp.

I can't imagine spending $550 for a throatier sound and bit better "pull", $550 could be a set of gears and LCAs installed. My $0.02

Already have gears, intake/tune, cat back, x pipe, hurst shifter, and several other mods. Headers were the last thing I was going to touch for a while.
