good luck, they're expensive everywhere in europe.
Cheapest is probably Germany, but you'll have to pay additional taxes to get it on the road (finnish license plates) in Finland, so you'll be back at close to 50.000.

Find an earlier model for less money or be prepared to pay a lot.

ok,hmm then what would be the cheapest way to get 05 mustang ?

importing from USA to Finland ?

How did you guys get Mustangs,or did you guys spent that much money on them ready to fit euro regulations ?

getting them ready for european roads is not the problem. It's the TAXES you have to pay for importing a car that makes mustangs expensive.

If I were you, I'd look into the tax-system that finland uses, and come up with the cheapest route after that.

Importing one from the USA may only be 2000 in shipping, but that would make the mustangs in Finland 27.000+ 2.000 = 29.000 and they are NOT. They're 50.000+ so there is obviously a tax reason why they are so expensive.

Contact a Finnish mustang club or an american car dealership and ask around about that.

05's seem to go for about £10-14,000 over here in the UK... Not sure how you'd go about importing it there though and what you'd have to pay. Surely if its registered in the UK all EU taxes have been paid already????

IT would be wise to import from Japan. Prices are not all that high and you can find a very low mileage car in all original form.

Im sure thre are many in the USA to, but mileage is always creeping on most of them. People enjoy driving of course!

I just imported a new 2010 via the UK.

The big problem for Finland are the taxes. There are European based taxes (VAT etc), however, Finland has an additional tax if you have not owned the car for 6 months abroad. These taxes are based on the "book price" for the model, not what you paid for it. So if you pay Euro 10,000 for a car and the Finish "book price" is say Euro 14,000 you pay taxes on the 14,000.

Thus you best way is to buy it in another EU country, hopefully know someone who can "lend you the address" and 6 months later import to Finland. The problem could be that if you are actually in Finland they may catch up with you as you are paying taxes etc there.

There is also a similar issue in Austria where my ex-wife just moved a 1.5 year old BMW X3 (owned all the time) and had to pay additional taxes.

So what happened to "free movement in the EU"

I think unfortunately you are stuck due to the Finish laws. Whichever way it will be expensive.

    Andy
