Exhaust leak: WTF does it sound like exactly??

i THINK that my o/r xpipe may be leaking from the passenger side header. WHen the pipe was installed, it was checked for leaks, and they said that there was none. they told me to listen too, and i didnt think i heard any either. Last week, it started to sound like there may be a leak. it only happens when i give the car some gas, like to pass someone etc. but, it sound like an airy sound coming from the right side (i hear it through the floor). THere also sounds like there is a ticking sound coming from there too when i give it some gas. Dont know if its a leak, or just the sound of the xpipe. Thanks in advance!

BINGO! Exhaust leak. Take it back to him and have them look at it, they should be reasonable about it. Sorry dude....

I have a sound that I think -could- be a leak but it also just could be the raspy x sound?

I only hear it when I'm next to a giant wall or jerseys on the highway... When I floor it.

I got header leaks once.. it has this nasty ticking sound to it. It gets louder and faster as I accelerate.

Then I also get paranoid by the air flowing sound under the car. Some people say that it's the air flows in the pipes and the cats. I don't seem to notice it now though.

Anyone: any chance these leaks sound like a whistle that gets higher pitched as the revs go up?

a whistle?..... I've never experience that but very very possible.. are you sure that you check for leak thoroughly?

sounds like what ive got: engine noise. mine is caused from my aftermarket stereo. it sounds like its coming from the speakers. its the worst in 3rd gear. the whistle gets louder and higer the higher i rev
