I cannot seem to find this anywhere and Google brings up too many unrelated things...

Specifically, I wanted to know if anyone knows what the actual OD measurement of a 2.75" exhaust pipe is...but, if someone has a link or chart or something showing these dimensions, that would be handy too.

Basically I bought an axleback for my car that came sans tips, and I thought the outlets were 2.5", but they measure out at 3" OD...I need a clamp for them and I don't know if a 3" clamp would fit or if I need a 2.75"...

If I knew the BWG or thickness I could tell you, but then you could tell yourself.

    Instructions

    Things You'll Need

    • Calipers
    • Car jack

      • 1
Raise your car using a car jack to a height that will allow you to lie comfortably underneath the vehicle.
      • 2
Open the clamps of your caliper, and place them around the outside of the exhaust pipe. Choose a portion of the pipe that is straight. Close the caliper clamps around the pipe securely, but not tight enough to dig into the metal of the pipe. Record the reading on the calipers on a piece of paper.
      • 3
Stick one clamp arm of the caliper inside the end of the tailpipe, leaving the other clamp arm outside the pipe. Close the clamp around one wall of the pipe, measuring the pipe's thickness. Read the caliper and record this number.
      • 4
Multiply the pipe's wall thickness by 2. Subtract this number from the total outside pipe diameter determined in Step 2. This remaining number is the inside diameter of your exhaust pipe. The full equation is:
Inside Diameter = Outside diameter - (2*Wall Thickness)

Honestly. If its a 3" OD you will want a 3" clamp.

+1, do they even make 2.75" exhaust tube? I thought it was either 2.5" or 3", nothing in between.

I guess I looked at it wrong when I measured, because I checked it again and it was 3 1/8"...so, 3" clamp.

Apparently, they make the muffler outlets on this axle back 3" so that 2.5" OD tips will slip inside them.
