It seems every thread is either "Palin sucks because..." or "Obama sucks because..." and we never hear any positives about anyone. So, for this thread, instead of trying to convince people that they shouldn't vote for the candidate they favor try explaining why they should vote for the candidate you favor. Give some specifics. Don't just say things like, "I'm voting for X because he'll bring about change!" That doesn't tell us anything. Be specific like, "I am voting for X because I would benefit from his tax plan." And instead of attacking people for expressing their reasons here try countering with a positive from your candidate. "You may benefit from X's tax plan but Y's will benefit you this much more."

Can a thread like this really work on Stangnet? Only one way to find out...

i want a president that will appoint judges that will apply the constitution to the law, and not make new law from the bench.

i want a president that will uphold the constitution.

i want a president that will work to keep our taxes low.

i want a president that will work to curb government spending.

i want a president that will work towards energy independence for this country, and who will use all resources available to this country to achieve that goal.

i want a president who has some intergrity and honor.

these are just a few reasons why i am voting for john mccain.

I want a President that is tough on terrorism and wants to finish up the job in Iraq. A President who wants to keep taxes low and find a way to make healthcare more affordable without destroying the whole system. I also would like a President that is against pork barrel spending and agrees that less government is better for the American people. I want a President who believes that there's such thing as a 2nd Amendment and that the American people should have the right to bear arms. I also want a President that agrees human life is valuable, has a consistent pro-life stance, and thinks the American flag is important enough to salute when the pledge of allegiance is playing. :flag:

I think I'm just as pessimistic as some of the far left individuals we have out there, though I'm speaking from the right side.

I Like that McCain/Palin because they are Republican. With the House and Senate more than likely staying Democratic controlled, I want a Republican in the Whitehouse.

I like McCain/Palin because them in office means more gridlock and less screwing over of the American Public.......

    GO GRIDLOCK! :D

He's definitely entertaining to listen to. I love it when he goes on a rampage. He really lets the Dems have it without pulling any punches if you know what I mean. ;)

Kind of hard to do when Obama wants to RAISE them.

Then you might not want to vote for someone who wants to nationalize healthcare.

Obama is against drilling in ANWR and against drilling offshore. This will force us to stay 70% dependent on foreign oil. Not to mention he's also against building any nuclear reactors. So how DOES he plan on making us more energy independent? Besides making sure our tires are inflated and putting an additional tax on electricity. :rlaugh:

Is this what you mean by integrity and honor?

YouTube - Barack Hussein Obama refuses to salute US flag

Which brings me to my next point ladies and gentlemen.....

My hope for this thread was that it could be a place for people to express why they support the candidate that they do without being attacked for it.

The issue of taxes is a complicated one. Experts have a hard time agreeing exactly who will be effected by their plans because they are only giving vague impressions of what they are wanting to do and each time they talk about it they tailor their message to whoever they are talking to at the time. For what I have heard from Obama I believe he would cut taxes for the lowest brackets but anyone who is well to do will get an increase. McCain seems more likely to give everyone a tax break, which may not be a good idea either. Obama probably would cut federal spending more just because he'd pull us out of Iraq immediately, which would probably not be a good thing. We could argue Constitution all day and not come to an agreement on who would implement it better. (Off topic, I did find it funny that Whoopie Goldberg while talking with John McCain said that she thought a strict interpretation of the Constitution would mean that she would have to become a slave.) As for energy, I fear McCain would focus too much on using our oil and not enough on new sources while Obama would focus too much on new sources while not using our oil reserves. We need someone that will tap our supplies while researching the alternatives. Honor and Integrity are in the eyes of the beholder and each man has their pluses and minuses in that category.

    Wow you opened my eyes!
I now see that your personal beliefs and thinking is the only logical thinking there is!
It must feel good to know that you know it all!

I hate the 2 party system and people who pull one handle, both candidates have good and bad views and it don't matter who gets in office cause the damage is done and there is no fixing the mess were in now.

This is why I am trying to eliminate attacks here. I'd be nice if we had a thread once in a while in which we could rationally discuss something without ending up at each others throats. Then again, such a thread might not belong in "Fight Club."

If you're going to take somebody ELSE'S post and swap the words Barack Obama in there, then you're asking for someone to correct the mis-stated truths. Sorry.
