Fan noise...need help

This morning when i started my car i noticed that there was a kind of clicking or ticking fan noise that sounded like it was coming from a black box under the passenger side floor board. Has anyone heard a noise like this and diagnosed what it is? I'd like to fix it myself if its a simple thing to fix. Thanks!

check the fan belt, mine was missing the "ribs" in one little spot, and every time it turned over the upper pulley, it made a clicking noise..

It sounds like its coming from inside the vehicle not in the engine compartment. It only happens with the a/c or fan is blowing air.
