I have been having major drivability problems in the stang for a while now and finally got around to pulling the codes. The symptoms are severe hesitation, which usually results in a backfire if I dont get out of the gas, and lately the car will not cruise without bucking.

It idles with no surging and WOT feels good and strong, only becomes a problem when changing speeds, especially with moderate throttle.

Anyways the codes that came up were 67 and 81 for the current codes, and 18 for the stored codes.

67 is a neutral sensor which may have been from installing my clutch and 81 is a thermactor circuit which would result from me taking it out.

18 on the other hand says "Loss of tachometer input/IDM circuit failure/spout circuit grounded". I really have no idea where to start with that. Could this be the cause of my poor performance? How would I go about fixing it?

Thanks, Adam.

Code 18 - SPOUT out or wiring fault - look for short to ground in SPOUT wiring going back to the computer. Possible bad TFI.
