Finally, after 2 years of trying to solve.....

I have a 99 ZMR3 nitrous car with a built engine that can go to 8000 rpm easily. I have been running the last 6 months with an Autologic chip that was setup to defeat, not reset the rev limiter. With no rev limiter, I had the nitrous window switch set at 7900 rpm.

What has always been of concern was the chip connections going bad or a wire breaking on the 4 program chip and the chip ceasing to function, such that the stock 7050 rev limiter was suddenly active yet the window switch was set much higher. It happened once on a 75 shot, didn't hurt anything, but I wanted my rev limiter set above 8000 WITHOUT a chip!!

Superchips Custom Tuning (SCT) figured out how to do this so I bought the flasher. In addition, they figured out how to do a two step.

I just got back from testing the SCT file in the car, with ET Streets and line lock without the nitrous system active. I had set the rev limiter to 7500 rpm and the launch limiter at 4000 rpm, just to test things without undue stress on my little motor. I am happy to report that it all worked great!

I have been trying to buy this capability for 4 years. Finally, I have it.

Now, on to a 200 shot, and some serious tuning .........without worrying about things changing once they are flashed.

Joe, That is Freaking Awesome news. I am running Autologic and also have the ZMR3 level. Man with 4.10s and my horses the REV LIM at 6.8 has been a nighmare. I keep hitting it and blowing my fuel regulator.

Can the SCT flash both eliminate the REV LIM all together and also allow for a custom setting? PM me with some more details about SCT and contact names.

I have been hoping someone would figure this one out :hail2: :hail2:

    You made my day.

Yes, you can reset or defeat the rev limiter. You can also set a launch limiter, which is a rev limiter until the car starts moving.

It drove me crazy to try to shift the stock motor before hitting the 7050 limiter when my engine was stock. After I changed cams and valve gear, I HAD to defeat the limiter, which is what I did with the Autologic chip. But I was never comfortable with the chip, mainly because we have a little H2S in our air out here and the edge connectors seem to be more of a problem here locally. At least that has been my experience, nothing against chips except that you are dependent upon the chip connection to defeat your stock rev limiter.

Superchips Custom Tuning has a forum over on http://www.modulardepot.com if you want more information. That is where I first read about the flasher. It is not cheap, however. I paid $795 for it. But I have spent close to $2k on chips, tuners, reburns, flashes, and Fedex over the last few years just to get to TRY everyone's attempt. The problem is that the tuner/software/hardware guys don't have access to every PCM made, so they are never completely sure they have a problem fixed without sending you the stuff to try. I have been the guinea pig for almost every possible solution. This one finally works. Finally.

The only other thing I've ever been this excited about for this car was installing a live axle two years ago, LOL.

Other things you can do---defeat the Traction Control for ever and ever, regardless of the button status. Also, the sudden enrichment which occurs when the PCM decides the fuel pressure is too low after 8 seconds--happened to me in 3rd or 4th gear every run I datalogged. The SCT guys explained exactly what was happening and told me how to fix it if I wanted to.

Of course you can do all the other stuff that I have been doing external to the factory PCM, such as timing tables, MAF calibration, idle speeds, matching injectors, all that stuff.

Let me know what you think after you have taken a look at their site.

    Joe
