What stage Spec clutch is that? I absolutely hated the Stage III spec clutch. It chattered the full 500 mile break in plus the heavy pedal didn't lighten up even a fraction. I should have installed that ProMotion clutch combo they guaranteed would have a lighter pedal than a King Kobra but rated to 500HP.

Nice tranny, sucks about the fluid. Maybe Bill was following you.

Thanks..thats a kevlar stage two. I think the three is metallic and those things are rough..we'll see.

Momma's car cleaned up ok. Luckily none of it hit the carpet.

I am rocking a slightly upgraded 3550 with a spec stage II also and ZERO chatter and awesome grab. Although I am not pressing it to its limits, I would say I am somewhere around 515 flywheel... You will be golden! :nice:

Man, a stage three is a metallic padded disc meant for drag racing or super nasty towing. It's not spec's fualt you bought the wrong clutch. Those things are engaged, or not. Period. You don't drive them on the street.

I may look into something like that later, but until the dart comes along, it's kinda pointless.

Allen, hate to say it, but Spec clutches are horrible(except their expensive twin). They chatter, and run horrible. I tried to run mine, and could only get a 1.71 60ft out of it and hated every minute of it.

I 10,000% agree with S&B. I broke many rear ends with my spec in my C5, and it drove like crap on the street. My best 60ft on my old C5 was a 1.70, and I crinched when launching knowing what could happen. My Mcleod is like butter. Feels like a stock clutch, and it slips amazingly on a hard launch even at 900hp. He is absolutely right, you do get what you pay for. Stock IRS driveline with no upgrades(like a Z06) and nailing a 1.46 60ft. Video in sig, but I honestly will never put one in any vehicle I own, unless it is their twin. If you listen close to my launches, here with my C6 vs C5 on youtube, you can here the exhaust tone and see the car how smooth it is, due to the clutch doing its job and slipping.

Mark, while it's true that you do get what you pay for, you also understand what you work on, when you've done it long enough. The spec clutch I'm using is not the one you guys had the bad luck with. Justin knows what I'm talking about. Those chattering ass Bronze Button clutches like the one you just described and the one S&B had are not exclusive to spec. They've been around 50 years or longer, they were invented for tow trucks. My dad had one in his 63 ford 4x4... My clutch is KEVLAR, so it will slip. I'm gonna start off making 500 ish, and it will be fine. I won't need a twin until I get upwards of 6-700 hp...hopefully.

That's what Promotion sells, a Mcloed / RAM combo clutch kit rated for 500HP with King Kobra pedal effort. That's what I should have bought.

Well, I kinda got a late start, so I didn't get finished. Had a lot of other BS to deal with earlier today, but I did make progress. here's the old T5..

Man I thought I was gonna pull that car off the stands onto myself a few times trying to break some of those bolts. As far as I can tell, this is the first time this transmission's been out since this car was built. The aluminum had a long time to corrode and tighten up on the bolts, and my taiwan impact wasn't helping either. Note to self: Buy ingersoll impact.

Check out this 5/8 crafstsman wrench I bent the poop out of...

    Anyhoo, We'll resume later!

Well, here she is, rolled out of the garage. New trans works great.

Been waiting on a set of gears a friend was supposed to bring me and they still haven't panned out. So, I got impatient and buttoned her all up so I could go drive it. The new TKO 600 sure works and shifts better than the hurt little T5!

Here is one of the many snags I hit on the project- starter bolt that refused to come out..

This thing gave me fits getting it out, but finally, I WON!

Gears should be here soon, then it's go fast goodies..... And I ain't paying a speed shop to do the work, it's yours truly!;)
