I have a red Mustang which has some scratches / cracks on it.

Anyone know a good method to get rid of cracks in the paint or scratches on the car? I was washing my car at the car wash the other day and some of my paint came off of my car and it is just pure steel that you see now and it is beginning to get bigger. Now its only about a quarter size but its growing.

So, does anyone know some good stuff I can put back on there that will make it look like the original paint job, or close to it? The same for some scratches that are on my car.

All I can think of is, sand with 1000 grit sand paper, the whole piece(fender, door, etc...) and base/clear coat it. Painting is easy, just follow the instructions. For scratches, you can try and buff them out with a buffing compound like 3M. If their into the base your screwed and have to do step one. I prefer just lightly sanding and reclearcoating. Then buffing, because if you buff your clear to much, it will get to thin and start to peel.
