Floating Idle and Dying

I was driving my 95 GT around yesterday running some errands. Whenever I would go to start my car again the idle would float around from about 500 to 1200 RPM (500 when it was just about to die and then catch itself and shoot up to 1200). If I would rev the engine a little before it died it would stay running. After a minute or so of giving it a little gas whenever it was going to die it would have a nice solid idle around 600.

Do you guys think it is a sensor taking a dump on me or what?

Oh yeah, it does it every time when the engine is warm (like it's only been off for 20-30 minutes) and occasionally when it is a cold start.

Thanks for the help!

Always a hot idea to yank codes, even if the CEL isnt on. In addition to the above post:

It sounds like a vac leak. Look for a vac hose that cracked or came loose.

Also, you might infer where your base idle setting is by disconnecting the IAC when it's surging (don't drive the car - just see what happens while you have the car idling in the garage).

Lastly, ensure the idle bleed screw didnt back out (this mimics the symptoms of a vac leak).

Good luck.
