After seeing just how successful the last Experimental Aircraft Association auction of the Ford Mustang AV8R was, the powers-that-be decided it best to bring about another pony car spin-off to the block for this year's gathering. Oshkosh is the scene for the auction of the 2010 Mustang AV-X10 which is treated to a star-and-bar glass roof, GT500 wheels, spoiler, and lower rear fascia, as well as some World War II inspired lacquer. With orange trim on the nose and tail, a snow white AV-X10 tail stripe, and an official "Dearborn Doll" fuselage pinup, the AV-X10 is in no doubt a great continuation of respect and honor to the US Armed Forces, just as the Roush P-51B was. Aside from the decor and paint, the AV-X10 is also packed with plenty of punch to compliment its patriotic appearance. The based 4.6-liter V8 has been nudged upward by the Ford Racing Performance Parts 550 horsepower supercharger kit, a tuned FR500S exhaust setup, and is equipped with the FRPP Handling Pack. On the inside, a few nice touches help the pilot keep the pony on the road [course]. A short-throw shifter, an aircraft-themed instrument cluster, seats done up in bomber-jacket leather, and aluminum dash trim all give this 2010 Mustang AV-X10 the official USAF feel from times past. So how do we bring this glory of the past to the present? Couple up this nostalgic glory and decor with a push-start button from today and the cash you've been saving since the past.
