I am enjoying this thread very much No street racing or anything stupid going on. We all have sweet cars that were designed and built to play with. Alot of us have enhanced that even more and like to try it out. Its been over a week since I drove my Cobra and because of this thread I will be driving her tomorrow to work There is just something about that feeling when you are at WOT in third and the rear starts dancing around as it desperatly searches for traction, its just intoxicating. I dont do ludacris speeds on the road eaither but sometimes I get to the speed limit really fast
^ thats exactly what im talking about. not racing, not going 110mph, just that rush in third gear when you floor it and start to accelerate very fast to reach a speed that is not dangerously high. once you get out of the gas at the top of third and apply a small amount of breaks you are back within the speed limits. 3rd gear is my fav because that is where you really feel the pull and power of the car starting to move fast! glad i could inspire you to go drive you cobra with the thread.
same here and i think i might possibly have it back by the end of next week. ok EDIT: sorry make that september stupid blowed up oil pumps. i just cant wait to feel what fr500 heads feel like on a 302 stroker motor.
Stupid chain guides/snapped timing chain for me I will be up soon aswell, however it seems as if you got serious with your build
Wait, did I miss something? You have a cammer 5.0 in your car? Did you use the Teksid stock oil pump? Always hear about them grenading them selves
its not a cammer....per say....but it WAS a VT stroker shortblock. forged stroker crank, forged manley rod's, forged diamond pistons, bored .20 over, 10.5:1 CR. so it is a 302 now. i was in CO and the oil pump blew up. caused all sorts of damage to the heads (were stock, but i picked up some FR500 heads for 1500) cylinder walls and pistons. block damage is able to be honed up and pistons can be polished to be like new again. found out the crank was hitting the baffles in the (stock) oil pan so that will be replaced with a moroso 7qt. a FRPP high volume oil pump is going on. as well as a spec stage 2 clutch. i dont have money for headers at the moment, so they are unfortunatly staying stock for now. but it will be recieving some Flowmaster Super 44's (used, but only 8000 miles on them and were cheap) i did score a good deal on some MM FLSFC's i couldnt pass up as well. im looking forward to getting my car back on the road in the next week or 2 and i hope to make about 380-390hp. im not sure that i posted a whole lot about the car yet as i have only been able to drive it for 3 weeks since i bought it before the breakage. so here is a teaser.
To the OP, isn't it a great feeling especially after driving your beater the previous day...I love the cooler weather now, car feels so much more responsive and the exhaust booms even more!! I love drivin to work through the city all the yuppies and their 3 series bimmers. Gotta love the necks snapping from the pedestrians as it sounds like a Star Destroyer is coming through down as the exhaust echos off all the buildings.
yep, you got it and i just realized that now is the first time ever that my screen name is actually true. i made it when i still had my V6 and now its true i do have a 5.0.
