Progress Thread Foxy Molly Build

I can't think of any scenarios where an insufficient weld wouldn't be a safety concern when it comes to motor sports. Hit around the welds with a hammer and see what happens. If the welds seem brittle or crack with a whack of a hammer then they won't hold if you're in an accident. With Flux welders there might be a layer of "skin" on the welds which is normal. It's the flux shielding. Welding is about getting good penetration into the metal without burning through it. If your gut feeling is that the welds are strong then hopefully you're correct.

Just so you know, if we Stangneters see shotty work we won't blow sunshine up your rear end especially when it comes to safety.

Love your project, keep up the good work!

I understand. I surely don't want to do anything that's going to get me or any one else hurt. I think it's good. I'm updating this thread here to capture my progress as well as get feed back, so your input is appreciated.

Still working on Foxy Molly and putting some things back together. It's been a fun process learning researching and just figuring things out. Besides freshening things up on Molly was teaching my self video and editing. I've been filming just about everything I've done on this car and have not been really sharing any of it. I put everything up on youtube in a build log. The first couple of videos are hilariously bad and unwatchable, but there is no other way to learn. You have to figure things out on the car, cameras, sound, editing, etc. I have a long way to go and putting your self out there can be a little tough. Anyway, some times moving pictures are better than text and static pictures.

Here are a couple of the videos for your time wasting pleasure.

I finally got Foxy Molly registered and inspected for road use again. It's pretty easy when you're a classic! I also had to get an alignment and I'm cheap and didn't have time before the Texas Mustang Invasion on Saturday. So, I used the super scientific string method. The video touches on it a little bit. I ran a length of rope from the rear to the front, measured the distance from the front of the front wheel to the rear of the front wheel while on the ground. Jacked up the car and adjusted the tie rod ends, lowered the car measured. Rinse and repeat until it was parallel, then I adjusted a toe-in of a 1/16th inch. The steering wheel is straight, car tracks straight and drives awesome. Yes, I know it's not perfect, but it'll do for a while.

I also took Foxy Molly to my first car show. The Texas Mustang Invasion 2016 was awesome and for a good cause. I meet Scott with Save A Fox Foundation and many other Foxbody enthusiasts. There were over 1000 Mustangs! North Texas Mustang Society, Save a Fox Foundation, LMR, Dallas Mustang, North Texas Foxbody Club etc all did a great job organizing this event. Check out the link and show up next year. I bet 2017 is bigger and even better! http://texasmustanginvasion.com/
