front bumber cover boo boo

:bang:
I have a 2001 Black V6 un-mod. Mustang.
I recently was in a collision and ended up being estimated at $1,800 worth of damage from Shel*er Insurance. First of all.... :bs: , because I know I can get the parts and find SOME way to put it on for ALOT less.

For all the people out there with body expertise, this is for you.

All I need to replace is the front bumper cover which I have many sites that have this part for under $250.00 total. Now I know the shipping will run me a little pricey, but my question is this.

Does anyone know the basic logics of how to go about replacing the part? Are there clips I will need? Any painting tips? Things to watch out for?

I have included pictures of the damage for those who want an idea of where its broken at.

Okay, I don't think that Ron knows how to do it........

#1 There are bolts that go through the sides of the front bumper cover that go inwards, towards the engine bay. You will have to get under the car and pull the wheel well out to gain access to them easily. If you have small arms, you may be able to maneuver your arms in to remove the nuts/bolts.

#2 There are screws in the wheel well lip that connect the bumper cover to the fender, take those out

#3 There are plastic "rivets" along the top "lip" and bottom that connect it to the core support, they need to be pulled out.

#4 Even after removing all of those, you may still have difficulty with removing it because on the factory bumper cover, there is a tab that inserts into the headlamp panel and is a real tight fit......you'll have to tug hard, but it will come off

hope it helps.........

OUCH! But, I can explain that one! I was rolling out of the insurance estimators garage, and rolled over a HUGE 1/2 inch diameter nail, who knew! The tire went flat 2 hours after getting it home and in the driveway, what gives! DARE i ask the insurance to cover that one? After giving thousands of dollars a year to cover my car for this kind of thing.

NOPE!!! Thanks 97v6silver for pointing out the picture thingy. :D
