My dealer called today to confirm that the 2005 SC's are going to come with a $1,000 gas guzzler tax. I wonder if we will get a rebate if it's removed later in the production year, or if Saleen will even try? Glenn
Welcome Glenn, Have seen you on the Mustangforums. The orignal plan was not to have any gas guzzler tax, but as such, Saleen has other more important issues at the moment. If and when we see some S/C cars within the next month, I hope, they will probably have the tax. Also, the price on ALL S281's for 05 have been increased $1,800, unless the car has already been ordered. Some of the guys on that other board were chatting up that some dealers to remain nameless were to recieve the first batch or S/C's this week. I tried to tell everyone there that "some" cars that are destined to be S/C cars are having parts installed and have been assigned bumper numbers, but are far from complete and Saleen is without key S/C parts. Some cars have the blower in the channel but none of those cars are complete. Saleen will wait for 15-25 cars to be complete before they start to ship so that a few cars don't just trickle out at a time. All of those guys just call the dealer and the dealers will tell anyone anything they can just to keep them interested. Walk through the factory if you want to know whats really going on.
