Don't know if y'all have heard about this, so I just thought I'd share..

The cost of gasoline this morning in Venezuela: $0.12 Thats right 12 cents a gallon.

In Iran? $0.03 3 CENTS A GALLON. :fuss:

I speak Farsi and I am a Persian Farsi linguist and interpreter in the Army, and I can safely say that while their gasoline prices in Iran are significantly lower than ours, they are not $.03/gal - Perhaps in the scarcest regions of Iran such as found in Esfahan, Shiraz and Mashhad. Gasoline prices last reported in metropolitan areas by means of a contact in Tehran, and in Ahvaz, and Bandar-Abbas, all metro areas, gasoline ranges between 22 cents a gallon and 88 cents a gallon. Dunno who is propagating this "3 cents a gal" nonsense, the media or whatever...

But it's true, what the poster above said... If you can even FIND a Craftsman wrench or a Chevy Cavalier (and not one of the god awful Peysahk or Peugot cars they have there) it'll be exorbitantly expensive. Durable goods are incredibly expensive in Iran and truly the rate of poverty is unbelievable in most regions of the country. But I could go on for days since my field of study is Iran and Afghanistan. Anyway...

    Can't speak about Venezuela.

by the way, there are a lot of hotties in Iran, just most of them are wearing chador or jebhaht in public.

Theres more to it though. The leaders are so involved in making the countries look euphoric to the rest of the world, they're bankrupting the countries. The average joe in Iran is only alowed to drive 11 miles a day.

    -Off-topic from the thread -

That's cool. My brother does the same thing but for the Air Force. He recently returned from Afghanistan ... After reading your post I am curious, is a "chador" or "jebhaht" the female version of a shemagh? Learn me somethin' :flag:

Yes... but this week Exxon reported historically high profits associated with high gas prices! They made over 50% increase in profits just since February. It's not those countries ****ing us... Look up to capitalism at it's finest. And don't rag me till you tell me about Enron, MCI, Tyco, Arther Anderson... and on...

They have a free pass to rape us while we have no government that cares about squat.

I was in Switzerland last week and it was 1.76 CHF for a liter of gas. Which is roughly $1.40 a liter.

There are 3.78 liters in a gallon, so its roughly $5.29/gallon.
