I found a set of gears on Pee-bay and the guy has a few sets of em. They are discontinued gears made for FRPP by Motive. I asked the guy why Motive discontinued them and he said cuz they have a slight whine to them. Is this a real bad thing? Or are they worth buying?

They aren't used. Motive discontinued them after production for FRPP due to a slight whine when driving. Thats why Motive no longer makes gears for FRPP. They went on their own as "Motive" only...

I was just wondering what you guys thought about them.

Installing a new ring & pinion set is nothing less than an artform. Being done right can mean the difference between a noisy 30K gear life and an indefinite gear life.

In my experience, once you go lower than a 3.73:1 ratio, there is usually a slight whine to them that increases as the ratio increases. The worst I've heard was a built '70 Chevelle SS LS-6/auto/12 bolt with a 5.13:1 axle. Thing pulled really hard for the street.
