At this point I'm not sure if it would matter, but is it a long-style or diaphragm pressure plate?

I'm actually not sure, but my roommate did some searching on stangnet and he found a post by a guy who had the same problem. The other guy had to change the preasure plate because it was somehow too big. So he's just got to get a new one or live with the clank.
