Dyoct, I really appreciate the help on this, I will not bother you with too much after this. What is the process ordered vehicles go through ( i.e- order, get dora, get vin, get build date, and then ship date)? I think it would be nice if someone could put a normal process outline for other users to know at what point they would have a dora number. I just don't fully understand at which point to get excited or getting excited too early. I know no one can set how long wait periods are between steps, but even to know the whole process would be great. Anybody that wants to chime in, please feel free.

    Thanks again Dyoct!

Dyoct, Another thing- do you know what my priority number and how good is it? And when you say I might be waiting a while, what has been a worse case scenario onc a car has actually showed up in the system? Lastly, What does clean and unscheduled mean?

When you place the order with your dealership, whomever is in charge of ordering there will place your order into the Ford system. They should also add in the option code for the priced DORA. The order can be given a priority code of 10-80 based on what else the dealer has in the system. 10 is the best they can do for you. Automatically Ford will pull orders based on that system, but with the commodity controls, ie GTs, manuals, 18" wheels, whatever may be on short supply from the manufacturer then a scheduler in the regional office will pull every dealers order bank. It will only pull orders that are Clean and Unscheduled. This means that the order is actually buildable, ie they didn't mix option codes or color combinations that aren't actually to be sold, ie they put a Pony Package on a GT. Look at their allocation, and schedule accordingly until all commodities are exhausted. From here the company, not the dealer, can prioritize the orders with an 03, 02, 01 or 00 or a 99. 01 means pull it as soon as available, 02 is pull next, 03 is really just a "hey it looks like we're doing something for you" 00 means "TAKE THIS ORDER NOW NO MATTER WHAT ORDER WAS NEXT" 99 means "DO NOT BUILD" placed on when the dealer has been a bad dealer and not paid Ford or committed a grievious error on their agreement. The factory will then schedule the orders based on their production capacity from every region. The order is then scheduled for a particular week (IE it knows it can build X amount with Y amount of options). At this point it has been "submitted to plant." It cannot be touched at this point save to cancel it. It is then serialized, the VIN is created. The production week arrives, the plant determines which day it'll get built. Then the day comes, the order is in the day's system and ready to be assembled. It is "Bucked" at this point. After the vehicle is built and comes down the line it goes through inspection. It may be selected at random for some real world roadtesting then examined from inch to inch for QA. After passing it is brought out to the storage lot and awaits for shipment. When it is ready for shipment it is "released from gate" and sent via rail or truck to it's next destination, either a transfer point or the dealership where it'll await final delivery to the end customer. That's basically it in a summary, I know I missed some steps, but that's basically how it rolls.

Oh yeah, your priority code is 13.

damn, that's a good description! great job.

let me jump in now :) I have one on order too; and you seem to have better details than the Robot Lady gives me. Can you see what you can dig up for me?

I ordered my Mustang from Stephen's Auto in Danville, WV. Dealer # is 47492 (or 47E492 if you need the letter). Car is a T82, and my DORA is 4190.

All the robot lady is that "as of November 17th, you are locked in for production week of November 14th, with an ETA the week of November 27th."

Can you tell me if the options on my car will allow my build to go without delay, and if the week of 27th sounds like a good call?

    thanks!

If you're locked in, you're golden. I can see if your order has been bucked yet.

Dycot, I ordered a T82 on 12-29-05. Dealer F47451, order# 3207, priority 15. The 1800# said that is c/u. Any idea how long before it might go to production? Thanks
