Well I recently got a 88 tc motor to drop in my 89 mustang. It is complete minus ranger radiator and a intercooler. I also have stingers header to use with my ihi turbo.

I have $580 and was looking for advice on what I should get

I already know I have to buy rebuild kit- $150
    Head rebuilt- $100

That leaves $330 for any of the following upgrades

IC- Should I go with volvo fmic or different ic(npr?)? Would it be able to handle the max psi of the ihi? What is the most psi an ihi can put out? $???

    Extra not necessary upgrades

Should I upgrade the cam to RR cam or possibly a234 slider cam
Boost valve- Which ones do you recomend and about how much(ebay)
    Bov- same as above
    Bigger throttle body?
    any other upgrades???
I would like to keep the ihi since its in good shape

DOnt get rid of the IHI just yet. Its a good turbo for near instant response, and should have no problem getting you close to 250 HP. Just be careful if you're gonna push it past 18 psi.

For IC, I say go w/ the NPR. The Volvo works, but it's nothing to brag about.

Also how many miles are on the motor? If its got under 170K the bottom end shouldnt even need touched.

I haven't done it yet but I've read lots. I would look at 3" exhaust all the way back. Port the head. Then see where you are. Definitely some kind of intercooler.

Have the head rebuilt and check the bottom end, their pretty tuogh. Get it in the car and running, mount a stock intercooler in the stock position until you get it running correctly. The reason i say this is that you will prob need the money to JUST finish the swap. Once it's running good start looking into upgrade's.

Chasing stupid wiring/running problems could really suck if you have a bunch of other PARTS thrown into the mix. Stick with as many stock parts as you can untill the swap is done and it's running. Then have it :D

    Ranger Rollers aren't upgrades.
IHI turbos suck, in a bad way.
Stingers header and an IHI are a weird combination.

Pulled the head and found that there are two new pistons in the engine and I can still see the cross hatching in the cylinders. I assume that the engine was just rebuilt. Hopefully the bottom end will look as good.
