Or maybe I'm just weird and picky. I don't know. I just know that as soon as I put those seats in and sat on them, I knew I had to get rid of them.
Hmm, maybe one weekend i should pull one of the seats out of my '03 and test fit it in my fox before i committ to hunting down a set
If you do it, let me know what you think. I bolted mine down, sat down and decided it wouldn't work. So, I took the tracks off of my stock seats and put them on then new seats. That made them feel even taller! The end result was a feeling of sitting on the car rather than in the car.
I havent put them in my car yet but I am only like 5"11 maby so I should be fine...plus they are mint so it should look nice.
anyone whos done this have a problem getting the bottom of the rear seat to fit right? do i need to take out the bars that hold the fox seats in place? and how did you hold the sn95 seats in
i just removed the bars and stuck it in....there is an issue w gaps under the front of the cushon as the sn95 has a straight piece there and ours tapers or something like that...i just pulled the carpet up so you cant see under but never got around to actually filling it in lol.
I cut out the metal bars on my 2002 seats and cut some of the foam so it would sit a bit lower to the floor, more like the original seats. But like Adam said, there is a gap. I plan to someday fashion a wooden filler from a 2x6 so I can staple the carpet down and firmly position the seat. I even got the snap in brackets that mount in the metal rail on the newer cars to snap the seats in place.
This thread was incredibly helpful when I did mine this spring. Thank you for that. I just cut some of the foam on the seat ( just marked where it was hitting with a sharpie) and it fits pretty good. I left the metal bars in place and they seem it hold it in place pretty good. I too will be filling in the gap with a 2x6 and some black carpeting stapled to it.
trbkrb: so your saying you got the mounting brackets from an sn95 and mounted them in your fox? yeah, i knew about the gap, ill make something to cover that up
wow i like this, didnt know it was a direct bolt on, all i get around here is sn95 v6's with great interiors. i really didnt like my 95's seats..... but if i need replacements this would be my first goal.... anyone know if those halo escort headreaast will go into the stock GT foxes seats? i love halo headrest and will the mid early 80's or saleens one fit in the stock gt seats....???? i think just the halo headrest add a more sportscar look to any seat
Funny this thread got resurrected about now. I plan on installing my '04 GT "leather' rear seat in the next few weeks. I finally found some doner Fox seatbacks to use so i didn't have to cut up my MINT black fox tweed seat
No, I haven't installed it yet, but I do have the clips. The seat bottom has two metal pins on it that snap into the corresponding retainer clips that are mounted to the metal brace that goes across the car in front of the seats.
i got my backs all in today, still have to cover the gaps and figure a better way of holding them in there, the stock sn style clips might be a good idea...ill post some pics tomorrow
Got the interior all finnished up, new seats, and most of the plastics are also new, new carpet throughout and HVAC controls re-located: HVAC:
Looks good. How did you secure the seat bottom? Did you end up using the SN95 clips? I did my rear seat yesterday, but for the time being the seat bottom is just resting on the floor
thats pretty much all mines doing also, i think when i close up the gaps in the front ill rig something up to hold the cussion in better...yours is looking pretty good too
yes escort halos will fit, they are the same as the mustang ones.the saleen ones and certain netted halos will not fit,the have to be sinlge post.some are dual post.
