Hands down the greatest television series ever created. And it is hard to hate on them when most of what they say about domestic cars...is in fact true

There used to be a behind the scenes making video on the net for GT4 where they take 100s of photos of every car in real life that they plan to put in the game so that every minute detail is accurate. When you factor in that a lot of the cars are very rare, and that there's 600 of them....damn cut the developers a break.

I have nothing against the show, really ... except for the fact that they seem to universally loathe just about anything that doesn't come out of Italy or Germany and/or costs less than $150k.

The host is always entertaining as heck, and we all know The Stig is Strype's father ( ), but their perspectives on stuff is a little skewed. Those dudes are utterly spoiled to Ferrari- and Lambo-level cars, so they seem to expect a lot more out of cars than most manufacturers can realistically offer (for less than Ferrari-level prices). I know the Mustang and Lightning aren't perfect vehicles, but man ... the way they talk about them, they made it sound like those vehicles are complete and utter junk.

Funny that they spend all that time on detailing the interiors ... and yet so many people spend a lot of their driving time using the exterior chase-cam view.

I will NOT play a racing sim type game that doesn't at least have the hood view or preferably interior view. I can't stand that chase view crap unless i'm playing something arcade like Grand Theft Auto.

I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for this game. I still have to scratch up 400 dollars for the console.

If you guys are even remotely handy with electronics you can buy a borked PS3 on ebay and replace the Blu Ray laser yourself. 40 gig models can be had for $120 and the laser costs $60. I've done 6 so far and they are quite easy. There are literally hundreds if not thousands of them for sale, so finding them is not difficult.

not that i don't like Top Gear, but when they rip on American cars, it's mostly for entertainment purposes for the Brits.

The GT series had always been my favorite racing simulator...but to be worth the way, it is going to be have to be leaps and bounds better than Forza 2, which is going to be hard to do IMHO.

but I agree with you on the rest. I meant most of their comparisons as far as quality and driving. Dont get me wrong, I miss my Mustang TREMENDOUSLY and will probably have another some day, but compared to what they are used to, their generalizations aren't so far off...and you're exactly right that it is mostly for entertainment. I think all of them own an American car or have at some point and really like them.

Not only that, they also damage the cars. They borrowed the Viper ACR from us to take said photos and playing around with it, they lost it damaging the R/R wheel and front carbon fiber lip.

On the thread title subject, I just came back from Game Stop and they told me February 2nd 2010. So 6 more months if that holds true. At the same time however, the official GT site says nothing that confirms that statement.

Employees at game stop dont know a damn thing. I had a manager at a game stop tell me that Metal Gear Solid 4 was coming out for the 360 so whats that tell you. Employee's at game stop dont have any inside info on anything. The best they can do is take rumors off the net and regurgitate them to customers w/ out any validity of truth to them.

How many times (years?) did GT4 get pushed back because they couldn't get the online play just the way they wanted it? Then GT4 came out....and no f'ing online play? Never got a PS3 but got an xbox 360 and play Forza. Forza Motorsport 3 is supposed to be out this fall, with interior view. I just wish there was a better racing wheel for the xbox because I really did like the Logitech wheel made for GT4.
