i looked at some of the videos that IGN has just recently posted. the cars dont look like theyre going very fast, yet the speedo reads 150mph+. doesnt look realistic to me
I paid .99 for Amazon to deliver the game tomorrow. Meanwhile Christmas arrived at my house yesterday. I don't know, I have driven around few race tracks at 140mph+ and unless you're next to a wall, it looks pretty much like in the game. It doesn't seem fast, but it is.
how well can you see the car if its going 150? Point is you cant, its showing off the graphics not the realism speed aspect. That wheel is going to kick ass
I just got an email that Amazon overnighted mine via FedEx, should be here by 3 pm. Bummer is, I'm leaving with family to Palm Springs for couple of days. Right now I'm trying to figure out how to rig the wheel to the recliner chair. So we'll have that Fox race or what?
im having trouble understanding what youre trying to say: do you mean IGN (or the creators of the videos) intentionally slowed down the video? i can understand that if this is the case if youre saying that GT5 is creating this illusion itself thats pretty ****ty as its supposed to be a racing sim. not a "oh look how cool these graphics are that youve been waiting the past 5 years for" i want to believe youre talking about the former and not the latter oh, and i am not talking about the car itself. from an aerial perspective of the car, the surrounding environment seems a bit slow to pass by which gives the sense that the car is not really feeling like its going that 150mph
If any game is showing off a promo video one of the key things is graphics. You cant see any detail at speeds of 150. I have not seen the clip you are talking about but still. GT games have always been realistic, if your going 150 in the game then its going to feel like your going 150. I wouldn't worry to much about it. I work tomorrow but I'm having a friend pick it up for me during the day so I'll have it when I get home from work
yeah. im not saying the game is rubbish. in fact i want to pick the game up! it was just weird to see...heres the vid i have been talking about. on second view it doesnt look as bad as i made it seem. but at 135mph that overhead sign doesnt pass by too quickly...IDK what do you all think? am i nuts? <object id="vid_4ceb0ac50457bf7989000e25" class="ign-videoplayer" data="http://media.ign.com/ev/prod/embed.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" height="270" width="480"> </object>More Gran Turismo 5 Videos

That's the video I thought you were talking about. I think the fact that the camera is behind and not inside makes a bit of visual difference. As I said before, seems normal but I'll judge it once I see it on my 42" LCD.
How is that wheel? I considered getting it but wasn't sure how good it was. How much did you pay for it (or should I expect to pay for it)
I didn't hook it up yet. I just picked up some hardware to rig it up to my recliner. I'll let you know later, but the pieces are nice and heavy. As far as the cost, I snagged it from Logitech with 35% off discount code for $195 +tax= $212. Retail on it is $300, but Amazon price goes up and down, cheapest I have seen there was $240. The best deal I missed out on few months ago was from Best Buy at $150. The way I see it, I had to have this wheel for GT5. That's it!
Ok, so here is what I have to say about the G27 so far. It is way beyond of what I expected. I have never owned a wheel for any game before and this whole force feedback thing amazes me. While it is not exactly like a real car, probably due to the fact that my body doesn't feel the forces we normaly feel while driving, it is pretty damn good for what it is. It does take a little bit of time to get used to it, but once you get the hang of it, it's so much fun. I'm able to feather the throttle or hold it in one position as well as take turns so much smoother, something that is impossible with a regular controller. It was definitely worth $212, and IMO it's worth $300 if you don't find a deal. For now I had my mount is almost complete. I used a piece of plywood which I'm going to switch to a nice finish plank of wood and mount it on the recliner. I will post pictures in few days of the finished product. EDIT: Oh, and BTW, there are no Fox chasis Stangs in the game. Here is the official list. http://www.gran-turismo.com/local/jp/data1/products/gt5/carlist_en.html
