does anyone know if they have sent out a service bulletin on the front end noises and popping? the car sounds like the whole front end is loose going over some bumps.

there is a notice to the dealers that ford knows of the issue and that they are working on a fix. there is no actual TSB yet, to my knowledge, but there is one forthcoming.

Concur with karazuba. My 05 has been in the shop for the last 8 days. The service Mgr. says he has been in touch with Ford and they are saying that "yes, they are aware of the situation and are working on it". Notice, they did not use the words problem or fix..... how PC of them.... But as of today, no official TSB has been issued.

18461 - 2005 Mustang - Popping noise - front of vehicle on turns
2005 Mustang vehicles may exhibit a popping noise coming from the front of the vehicle in turns. Verify that noise is coming from the strut bearing or spring with chassis ears. Engineering is currently investigating. No repairs should be attempted at this time. Monitor oasis for updates. - Effective Date: 03/10/2005

I read on a post somewhere that A guy took his in and the dealer loosened everything in the front end and retorqued it..seems it may have been overtorqued at the factory? That solved his problem.
No personal experience with this problem though

I took my car into the dealership for that. They replaced the upper strut bearings on both sides. Now, about 2000 miles later the noise is coming back on the drivers side. So, either they installed the bearing wrong, they installed a bad bearing, or there is something else wrong.

Mine has the popping noise in the front end also. The dealer said Ford is working on a fix, but has not solved the problem yet. They lubed the strut bearings which fixed the problem for about 500 miles then it came back.

From all the people having this problem, it sounds like an engineering defect. That probably means they will have to engineer a fix. Expect this to take a while. :(

This sounds a lot like a similar situation with upper strut bearings on the 2nd gen. Taurus SHO in 1992. It took awhile for Ford to come up with a fix but they did get it figured out.

Faster the better - mine pops like crazy - front and rear during hard steering at parking lot speeds. It drives me nuts.

Yep, hard turns in parking lots. Sounds just like my '92 SHO did.

Add my GT to the list. It is a little comforting that it's fleet wide and not just an isolated problem. Strengh in numbers.

allie, you are talking about the EXACT thing that mine is doing. Mine does not "pop" when turning the wheel, it simply feels like something is loose in the front end, it thuds over small bumps at about 0-20mph. It feels like the strut is loose, or the exhaust is hitting or something. Took it to the ford dealer and nothing was fixed. It really feels like the whole K-member is loose or something. You are the first person that has exactly explained how mine feels, and my buddies car was built 3 weeks after mine and does the exact same thing. I have to turn the radio up very loud or it simply drives me insane, I have since parked the car and cannot stand to hear and/or feel it anymore. It feels like it has 500,000 miles on it already. Noticed it at 100 miles and still has it at 900 miles. :bang:

I read in a thread in the Talk section that the popping noise was fixed when the car is lowered. Many have reported that their popping has disappeared after they installed some lowering springs... Something to think about

I didn't notice any popping until about 1500 miles. Now I'm at just over 2k and sure enough; when I'm parking or pulling out of a parking spot, I get the "pop". It doesn't annoy me as much as some people I guess, I just hope it's not something that could potentially end up damaging my car.

Please keep this thread open and forward any info on this topic. Mine has been doing this for a while now with no help from the dealer, also have squeaking brakes during light braking, very embarassing on a new car.
