Did you ever have a problem with a clunking noise over small bumps? Mine does not "pop" it just clunks over bumps.

I just noticed that the rubber covering on the spring does not cover the entire end of the bottom of the spring. It stops with about 4 inches of bare spring touching the chassis.

    Yep.

Just got the V-6 back. Had a new fuel tank installed. Service Tech gave me a copy of the SMM #18461 and has me on file for call back when Engineering figures it out.

Red Pony I agree with the brake squeal.....pretty bad for a new car.

The "Poping" sounds are just the neighbor's cat that got caught up in the suspension. it will lessen with time.

    TSB
05-9-11 FRONT SUSPENSION POPPING NOISE WHILE TURNING RIGHT OR LEFT - VEHICLES BUILT BEFORE 4/8/2005

    Publication Date: April 27, 2005

    FORD: 2005 Mustang

    ISSUE:
Some 2005 Mustang vehicles built before 4/8/2005 may exhibit an intermittent popping noise from the front of the vehicle while turning left or right. The noise will typically occur during low speed maneuvers and may occur multiple times while turning.

    ACTION:
On both sides of the vehicle, install a revised upper strut bearing assembly. If the vehicle was built before February, 2005 it may also be necessary to install a lower spring seat isolator if one is not already present. Refer to the following Service Procedure

Took mine to the dealer today so that they could get the parts on order. I gave them a copy of the TSB. No problems. Now to see if the fix is really a fix.

I'm just back in Ireland from L.A. where we rented a V.6 and this had the same problem. My friend left thinking it was down to poor build quailty but i figured it was a teething problem. Looks like i was right.

What I dont understand though is how this problem didnt present itself on any of thier test vehicles. Or maybe it did and they didnt want to delay the launch unitl they found a fix.

Nice car though, first time to see or drive one. V.6 is very underpowered though. My 1999 Audi A6 1.8T (only 150bhp) is far quicker, which is very dissapointing. Hope the V.8 (which i intend buying) is a lot quicker.
