Im questioning whether it is real, or a fake  When you click the link they provide it asks you if you are sure you want to send personal sensitive information to the outside party. Seems kinds fishy to me, is there any way i can find out if it is legit or not?

Thanks

UPDATE!

Be very careful guys, i had a gut feeling that it was a spoof email from a person claiming to be ebay so i forwarded it to [email protected] to have them check it out, and in a couple minutes i had a response from the security department of ebay telling me the email i received was not sent by them. So be very careful if you use ebay and go with your gut feeling, because they are usually right.

About a year ago,I got a message form ebay saying that due to a system crash, they lost my credit card info and if I didn't update my info with a new number, they'd have to close my account. It was a very official looking site, but since ebay only charges you when you sell, and I hadn't sold anything in months. I blew it off and they didn't close my account. Since then I've gotten the same thing from AOL and since their service is so crappy, I emailed them and told them they'd be doing me a favor by closing my account! Sadly, they've since refused to close my account, yet drain another $23.90 every month since...

I got the same message. It's a way for someone to hijack your account. Once they have your info, they can put up pictures (also usually hijacked) of different items for sale, cars, ATVs, motorcycles, from outside the U.S. They usually offer free shipping to the states and a ridiculously low reserve. Then you will most likely be requested to send funds to them by way of western union in someone's name you know "for your protection." They get the money, the buyer gets nothing, and the account owner gets screwed.

That's why people should pay attention when they sign up for anything...
Because the company will always have in print or somewhere else that they will NEVER ask for your personal info. At least that's what I always see from AOL, Ebay, banks and such.
