Hello! Where Did This Cobra Ornament Come From?

Hi all! I'm new here! My husband and I are reaching out to the Mustang community to help us solve a question that we've been debating for a while now and curiousity has gotten the best of us. This old cobra ornament has been in our possession for a long time and every once in a while, we wonder about its origin. Were there any specialty designs that had a hood ornament? Or is this some type of other ornament? Or is this an aftermarket piece? If so, for what? As you can see, the bottom is designed to be bolted into something else. Thanks for the discussion!

I said hood ornament but also could have been a grill ornament considering its flat design?

At 7 1/2 inches tall, and double side cast , it would not be a grill ornament .It looks like it may have been from a display or trophy .I would check with Shelby American on that one .

yeah from the coloring I'd say trophy or plaque of some sort. Has that trophy gold paint color.
