Help..Code 22

Have a 1993 GT. All of my other sensors are new so I decided to change the one sensor that wasn't new which was the BAP sensor which code 22 refers to.

After clearing codes from memory I run the KOEO which gives me codes for TAB and TAD which aren't connected. Then I run KOER which gives me the same codes.

But then after I drive for a little and come back and run the KOEO, I get a code 22 stored in continuos memory.
KOER then may or may not give me the continuous 22.

I have tried two brand new Motorcraft DY-530 (E7EF-12A644A1A,A2A)

So then I decide to put my old OEM BAP sensor back on and repeat the entire procedure above and DO NOT get a code 22!!

Any reason why two new sensors would do this and old one doesn't?

Also, is it possible for a code 22 to make hydrocarbons increase by 3 times the normal amount?

BAP can play with the A/F and ergo HC output, but how much I dont know.

I would want to troubleshoot the wiring to the sensor myself.

Code 22 MAP (vacuum) or BARO signal out of range. The MAP or BARO sensor
is pretty much the same sensor for both Mass Air & Speed Density cars. The
main difference is where it is connected. Mass Air cars vent it to the
atmosphere, while Speed Density cars connect it to the intake manifold
vacuum. Its purpose is to help set a baseline for the air/fuel mixture and
changes in barometric pressure. The MAP or BAP sensor puts out a 5 volt
square wave that changes frequency with variations in atmospheric pressure.
The base is 154 HZ at 29.92" of mercury - dry sunny day at sea level, about
68-72 degrees. You need an oscilloscope or frequency meter to measure it.


Baro or MAP test using frequency meter - run the test key on engine off. The
noise from the ignition system will likely upset the frequency meter. I used a
10 x oscilloscope probe connected from the frequency meter to the MAP/BAP
to reduce the jitter in the meter's readout.

If it is defective, your air/fuel ratio will be off and the car’s performance &
emissions will suffer

With the ignition switch in the run position, look for 5 volts on the
brown/white wire on the BAP

The following tests must be run with the power off.
Failure to do so will give inaccurate results.


With the power off, look for less than 1 ohm between the lt green/black wire
on the BAP and pin 45 on the computer.

With the power off, look for less than 1 ohm between the gray/red wire
on the BAP and the negative battery post.

If either one of these tests fail, you have some bad wiring or bad connections.

If all of the tests pass, the code 22 points to a bad MAP/BAP sensor or a bad computer.

Help, I have an 88 cali mustang with stock maf. I ran diagnostic and got 22 as a code. After some research I noticed the vacuum line from intake was plug up to bp sensor on the firewall, is this right? I unplugged it and put a cap on the line and car seems to run smoother.
Maf and you have BP sensor which senses atmospheric pressure
Sd and you have map sensor senses manifold pressure.
Sorry for the old thread any help would be great.
