So, with one month to go, it's time to start this up. As the most obvious fan of last year's winner (UF), I guess I get the honors. Woo.....

This year, UF is going to be looking for a repeat. We return our entire starting defense (which was one of the top in the nation last year), and all but 3 of our starting offense. The biggest loss this year is Percy Harvin. We are hoping to fill that roll with one of our other players, but those are some HUGE shoes to fill. With the team returning such a great squad, and an unusually easy schedule for UF (normally in the top 3 hardest, this year it's a cakewalk), UF sets up well for a bid to the BCS NCG again. Who will stop them? Only time will tell!

Go ahead an post who you think will do well, why, and what will be the NC game this year. My bet is UF vs USC in the NCG. Well, that's my dream at least. I would love to see that game.

    Anyway, GAME ON!

Purdue sucks, we may win 3 games this year.

At this point I am hoping to see Florida vs Southern Cal in the title game. It has been some time (2005) since there has been a great title game.

Dunno how the hell they're gonna do this year as several starters graduated, including QB Pat White and their excellent kicker, Pat McAfee.

It will remain to be seen but I'm sure there will be at least one important game this year where they will choke and totally blow it, never fails!

Go Gators .. Harvin was a hard loss but I think a few will step up and fill his shoes .. Defense looks as good as ever ... I worry about that one game they may lose that no one will think they will... National Championship .. Gators and Longhorns ...:D

    OFFICIAL 2009 COLLEGE FOOTBALL THREAD

Alright, College football starts in 13 days, and who else is ready for it? The hype on campus is crazy, even only after 3 days of classes. As some of you know, USC(s.carolina) opens against NC State here in Raleigh. The theme for our pep rally is "Beat that ****" or something.

13 days, 7:00 EST ESPN. Tune in.

Roll call your school, except for those damn SEC bastards.

I got to start a new one. The "original" one started the year off poorly, by being started by a Gator.

    Oh...LSU representing.

Freshman QB's have a few games under their belt. SO far the starter looks to be true sophomore Jordan Jefferson, a Micheal Vick/Terelle Pryor type player. Also the guy who stated 8 games as a redshirt freshman, Jarrett "Pick Six" Lee. Called "Pick Six" because he threw for 24 TD's last season...7 to the other team. But the guy has talent and could step in if Jefferson falters.

Other individual players to watch will be Chad Jones on defense (he surprisingly pitched relief and did well for the 2009 COLLEGE WORLD SERIES CHAMPS!!!) and some good running backs in Charles Scott and Trindon "the bottle rocket" "the fastest man in college football" Holliday.

Our defense was out to lunch last season with the co-coordinator fiasco so we seem to have that fixed with the hire of John Chavis who was with Tennessee last season. Every indication is he has put an emphasis on speed...where we have had successes in previous seasons. Look for some stiff competition in the SEC West with Alabama and Ole Miss being in the top 3 with LSU. The SEC east is pretty much a lock for Florida.

We win Championships in odd years whether it be SEC West, SEC as a whole or the 1st team to win two BCS titles ever in 2003 and 2007 so look for us to be a contender again.

How my Buckeye's do comes down to the development of Prior. He is a phenom, but he'll need to pass the ball better. All reports are that he has improved his footwork substantially, which is where he really struggled. I do love the fact that he ran the fastest 40 on the team at 4.33. It was an electronic time, so it is legit, but the Woody Hayes facility is a fast field, probably translates into a high 4.4 combine time since Indy is notorious for being a slow field. Also, the O-line is supposed to be much improved. That is where we've struggled in the last few years. Unfortunately, the impact player there, Justin Boren, sprained his MCL and will be out 2-3 weeks. Should be ready for the USC game Sept 12th, but will he be 100%?

I'm not too worried about the defense. We lost some high profile players, but we are pretty good about re-loading on that side of the ball. In the years past when the D looked bad, it came down to the offense's inability to put together a drive and give the D a chance to catch their breath and make adjustments. Look at last year's bowl game against Texas, in the 3rd quarter, the O went 3 and out on 3 straight possessions. The D was on the field for 10+ minutes. No way that's not gonna bite you in the arse.

In the end, I do see us playing in a BCS bowl game, but probably not the Title game. Only have 2 real tests, USC at home and Penn State on the road.
