    Hey guys,
I have an opportunity to pick up a bbk o/r x pipe for my supercharged 02 gt. i am running 8psi. i was just wondering how much boost pressure ide lose if i put the x pipe in. and if i lose psi will the gain from the x pipe make up for the loss?
Thanks guys. i really appreciate any opinions.

I'd be surprised if there is loss of boost. Boost is measured on the intake side. Better flowing intakes and heads can result in lower boost values.

If you have cats on it now I think you may lose a 1 or 2 pound. Boost is a measurement of restriction. With no cats your motor breaths alot better and makes more power. I would get it retuned too, because you are going to run lean as well.

While I can agree that boost is a measure of restriction (on the intake side) would you care to explain how the exhaust side affects boost. Power yes but not boost. Just curious.

boost is measured on the intake side...no boost loss on the exhaust side..

you are right...don't get boost and power confused...not the same thing...

alright then well seeing as there are competing opinons, il ask this, will putting this pipe on hurt performance? i jsut went through hell trying to get a belt that works on my car and if i have to change pullys and rebelt to make this thing work then i will just have to do it at a later date. what do u guys think. will pipe and the retune get me more ponies or is this thing not worth doing.

I am not sure why. I can see what you guys are saying, but I am just saying this from what happened to me. When I put on my long tube headers I lost 2 pounds of boost and they leaned my car out. Maybe it is the scavening of the headers and or X pipe.

Well, I put on a BBK O/R H to allow the exhaust to flow better. Also, remember the stock cats were never designed to see boost. I lost some boost when I installed the Edelbrock performer heads with the 2.02 intake valves. To offset this loss I increased the crank pulley diameter by .85 inches. I did not need to change the belt but it is close to the limit.
