I am about to piece together all the stuff I need to build up an axle. There is one for sale locally and it's setup exactly how I want to build mine up. Of course it's out of a 99+ car. If the width difference isn't too large, I could save myself some trouble and just buy this axle wholesale and bolt it up.

Does anyone know what the difference is?

    Thanks,
    Gabe

It's a bit wider I believe, but all the mounting points are supposedly the same, so you shouldn't have any trouble.

0.75" each side wider than a 94-98 rear end.

The extra lenght is made up in the housing and axle shafts.
