the only tbird i see on the road is my sisters, the one i used to own and just handed it off to her, cause thats all it was worth was a hand-me-down. otherwise ive only seen one modded tbird in my entire life, it was a sc and couldnt keep up with my gst when it was still on the stock turbo, which is highly pathetic.

i highly doubt i will ever see any tbird equal to a stock gt, let alone my gsx or my belated cobra.

you tccoa guys are pretty funny though. the percentage of them will never see past 15's, and an even smaller amount past that. id hate to see the percentage of them actually in the 13, 12 or 11 second range, and above that, id hate to see what they spent to get there, i could likely pay off my gt with that amount and put a down on another cobra. id more likely run into a 1000whp+ supra (especially in california) than a tbird that can keep up with me on my worst day.

The Supercoupe utilizes a supercharger, not a turbocharger. The TurboCoupes were the Turbocharged models and used the same 2.3L that was in the SVO. Even still….it takes nothing more than a pulley swap, intake/exhaust upgrades and a tune to really make em fly.....kinda like the ’03-’04 Cobras. ;)

In strait line acceleration, you're probably right. But otherwise, they're pretty much an even match to a GT of the same era. And no Mustang GT I’ve ever been in (with possibly the exception of the S197’s) ever rode or handled like my MN12 does.

Yes, there certainly are a few guys that talk out of their ear on tccoa.....but no worse than some of the characters I've seen here on Stangnet. Everyone thinks they've got the fastest thing on two wheels until they've met someone faster. I know guys running blown Mustangs that can't get them out of the 13's, where I know of others running the same kind of times in their MN12's with PI intakes/cams, basic bolt ons, gears and a converter. Generally yes, I’ll agree with you that a T-Bird is no match for a Mustang (and I’m sure I’ve already pointed this out) but when in the hands of the right person, just like the Mustang, and MN12 can be turned into quite the ride. As far as what it takes to get there....not a whole more money that it takes to do it in a Mustang. 95% of the engine and drive train parts are interchangeable between the cars.

I put $17,000 into my Cougar, but that's because I decided to go overkill on everything and performed a lot of custom work to make it the way I wanted it to be and to ensure it would hold up to the abuse. I could have easily done it for half that and been just as happy....but I'm stupid that way. Had I to do it over again, I would have waited for the '05's to come down in price and put he money into one of those. But hey, hein-site is always 20/20, right. Regardless.....once you get into this level of performance, they're all money pits. Whether it be Mustang, T-Bird, Import.....whatever. There's practically nothing you can get for these cars (Mustangs, MN12's) now that doesn't have two zero's after it. :(
