I have a 1993 GT. Recently, I was driving on the freeway at about 65 mph everything seemed fine and then all of a sudden it just cut out. I got it towed home and then checked a few things out. Also did a search online and saw that many people have had this happen. However, I'm now stuck and hope to get some help... - I replaced the cap/rotor. - I also replaced the TFI module. Tried to start the car, not starting. From what I'm reading online, it could also be the Ignition Pickup inside the distributor. I haven't gone there yet because I'd probably just replace the entire dizzy and also because: I had my neighbor help me check for spark at the number 1 plug wire, spark is there. At the same time, we also sprayed engine starter fluid onto air filter and car sounded like it wanted to start. Based off this, I would assume to turn my attention to fuel. Question: Would I get spark like this if the Ignition Pickup is bad? Or could it still be the ignition pickup/dizzy? When I turn my key to the "on" position, I don't here the hum of the fuel pump which I'm pretty sure I use to. I do here a click from the relay under the hood. I have read that even if it clicks, it may still be bad. Any insight on this? I read there is a way to test the fuel pump at the ECC by jumping wires. How do I do this on a 93 5.o and what will this accomplish? Tomorrow should be fun, thanks in advance! Car has 144,xxx miles. I replaced fuel pump around 100k miles.
