So I'm thinking about an affordable head unit: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-5Mm1nd...e=true&c=3&g=62700&I=130DEHP670&s=0&cc=01#Tab Crutchfield has this doodad for the Mach 460 system, which is what I have in my '97 Cobra: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-hd40ktslTtv/cgi-bin/prodview.asp?i=142C4FDK5&s=0&cc=01 Am I going to lose power by purchasing these two items over the OE sound system? Will it not be as loud? This head unit is about as much as I ever want to spend on the stereo system; the factory performance is fine for me, but my cd player took a dump years ago & I'd like to add mp3 capability. The only other purchase I might make in the future is an amplified Bazooka.
If you like the HU get it from Crutchfield but pickup a Metra Amp integrator adapter instead of the Scosche. Simple plug and play no need to adjust gain and cheaper.
Actually I suggest you cantact there tech support for the proper part #. They usually respond to a request the same day. They need to know year model and if you have the standard, mach 460, or mach 1000 stereo. Jeff http://www.metraonline.com/contact.aspx
wallmart carries both the adapters you will need, your total expense will be around 30 dollars. You can go without the level adapter but i reccomend you get it as it sounds much better with it.
