Ok so I have been doing a lot of research and I can't seem to find anything. On my 98 GT when my tach once I start it jumps to the rpm that its at but it is very jumpy, it doesn't rise and fall smoothly, when I turn it off it jumps down to around 500 then 0. It doesn't fall freely so to say. My odometer and trip odometer and speedometer do not work. Every other gauge on the cluster works. Its not my VSS and I'm stumped on what it could be. Anyone have any Ideas.

It would be handy to know what the PCM "thinks" the car's speed is. An ODB2 scanner is needed. Most autoparts stores will rent for free. If the PCM has the correct speed, this "proves" the VSS sensor.

Check the ground behind the center console. It's shared by multiple devices including the radio. It's frequently messed up during a radio install.
