The thing about Sonic Blue is its a solid color whereas True Blue has the metallic fleck which in fact does have a color shift depending on light conditions. Sonic Blue is a constant purplish blue... more purple than blue IMO. Actually, my avatar is rather small but in the actual size you can see the light transition from the rich deep blue to having a purplish twinkle here and there in the sunlight.
To artificially produce the result, you can take a flashlight and shine it directly on True Blue and see a brilliant blue and then take the light shine it across the paint at an angle and see quite clearly the blue has changed to a purplish metallic look.
Its not Mystic by no means, but IMO its the most interesting shade of blue that Ford has used in recent years.
Plus, in low light conditions, it looks nearly black.

What crawled up your butt and died. :rlaugh: Take a true blue to a gas station at night. The lights always make my car a purplish color, as well as when it's in the garage. :chair:

How many Screaming Yellows were made? They seem really rare too.

True blue around here (SF Bay Area) is common. I have an TB 03GT w/ DC interior. It started life as an 01 cobra wheeled premium pack coupe but now wears 17x9 95R wheels, 14K in suspension and has most of the interior removed and replaced with a pair of lightweight racing seats. A 5.4L and TKO500 are coming in shortly.

I love TB. The color change effect is really neat in the bright california sun. Never know if your car is black blue or purple but it's always good lookin.

Fun fact...If you have to have some paint work done...The body shops have about 9 variants of Ford's True Blue. Was really weird looking at the samples next to the car. So close, yet only one matched right.

(Bought unmatched 03 Cobra mirrors for my 01 Cobra that needed to be painted. Should have them on in a week or two if I get time.)

    Hey MJC,
How much did you pay for the Cobra mirrors? Where did you pick them up?

    Thanks!

When I originally called Ford, they quoted 300 for each mirror!!! (Ouch!!!) So I started looking around. I found out that BlueOvalIndustries on eBay sells these mismatched sets all the time. Here is a representative listing, selling for $180: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/99-0...ewItemQQcategoryZ33649QQitemZ8028981025QQrdZ1

As far as I can tell they are the real deal. The set I got looked new and perfect. I completely dissassembled them before taking them to a bodyshop so that all I was paying for was the paint work ($60). I should have them back soon at which point I'll put them back together and install.

    Good luck,
    MJ
