Hehe after 50+ drag passes and two solid summers of abusing my stock T-5 tranny she finally let go. I decided to make one last run down the highway to run a little bit of fuel of the tank before I park it for the ungodly winter we have here. Well I go through first then second then third and don't even really get into it when all of a sudden - BOOM! It grenaded. I some how got the car back into third after several minutes of forcing it, not sure how, it sounded like a blender inside. coasted it all the way home in third and rolled into the garage. don't even have reverse gear. My first t-5 victim. THe car hadn't moved since last last weekend where I ran a 11.46 @121. I know the car has a faster time in it with a better tranny and little more suspension work. well better now than at the starting line right? lucky Next year - manual valve body - C4 with hurst quarter stick!
lol well you definitely had your fun outta that one, im surprised it lasted that long. atleast you got it home and you got plenty of time to make her right lol.
Automatic Manuals are so much fun! Just messing with you man, that should be a nice winter project. Good luck
Cobra912 I feel your pain. I lunched my T5 also then went shopping at astro performance for a replacement. I like having the manual but it sounds like a nice project to get you through the long winter months, have fun
Once you have it out of the car, we need to see pics of the carnage. BTW, welcome to the club, my car is on its third.
hehe yeah I'll have to take it out and take a peak inside. I was surprised too how long it lasted I guess it was just a matter of time. It literally sounded like a bomb going off underneath me. Next tranny I will invest in a scattershield for the track. Don't wish to have any parts tearing my legs off.
I guess it was best for it to fail on the last trip of this year than on the first drive of next year.
cool. what are they rated to? you're goin road racing though so that's probably perfect. I need faster times! no more clutch
750lbs of torque, and 6 speeds so i'll probably be hitting 160+ on the back straights of the road course
