Want to replace the original leafs in my 67 coupe. Currently I have 620lb 1 inch drop springs and the shelby relocation (probably good for 1/4 inch at the best). I want a fairly straight rake...even front to rear. Do I need to go with the mid eye or reverse eye leafs? National parts depot offers a mid eye that claims a 1 inch drop for $169 pn5560-10b. Would these work for me? As far as the cars setup I am running around 300rwhp with a 9inch 3.89 gear. I have a larger 70 mach 1 sway bar up front and a matching 70 mach 1 rear sway. So what do yall think? Will this give me a good matching stiffness to the front and a level stance?

If your budget extends sufficiently far, nothing but nothing beats the wonderful composite mono leafs made by Flex-a-Form.

I recently fitted some Flex-a-Form composite leafs, along with the Maier Racing sub-frame connectors and adjustable Panhard Bar, along with the Mustangs Plus racing shackles and a pair of Koni 5 way adjustable dampers.

The rear end on my 66 Fastback is now absolutely breathtaking in regards to solidness and poise. Not the least of reasons because the Flex-a-Form leafs weigh just 8 pounds per side and are rated at 300 pounds of spring rate each and perhaps best of all, have an infinitely faster spring rebound speed than steel leafs. I'd swear I'm driving on an independant rear end suspension now.

I also fitted the Quarter Master Extreme-V 8.5" aluminum flywheel clutch package (just 18 pounds) and I overhauled every possible component within the 4 speed T-10, and I fitted a Quarter Master aluminum driveshaft and a 3.25:1 Currie Enterprises Alumin8 pumpkin with new ring and pinion and Limited Slip diff. We had the axle housing sandblasted and powder coated and new base plates and u-bolts were fitted along with an aluminum bell housing. We estimate we shaved 170 pounds off the drivetrain.

Sure, it took me 6 months to save up and import all the parts down here to Australia, but sweet Jesus! What an amazing difference to the car. It feels like a brand new modern car in the rear end - truly.

My 67 has 4.5 leaf mid-eyes, and it sits fairly level. The front has the 620# 1" drop springs, from which I cut another 3/4 coil, and the GW Neg. Roll kit which dropped my UCA about 1.25".

Sounds like a sweet setup. I have the Maier subs and Koni's. I am planning on the Flex-a-form leafs and Maier adjustable panhard for a future install. How did you route the exhaust? Did you use any other rear traction device?

Give maier racing a call, they were very helpful when i was setting up my 66.

I thought I'd chime in since nobody seemed to answer your question about the NPD springs. I've got NPD's mid-eye 5 leafs on my Mach. They're stiff, but not ridiculous and my car sits pretty ok... I'm still thinking of lowering it but I really want to let the suspension settle after a few miles (which it just hasn't gotten yet). Anyway, my front suspension has the GW negative wedge kit with 1.75" lowered arms and stock Mach springs, which probably sits 1" lower than stock. Here is a current pic of how the car sits but just keep in mind that it is completely stripped inside here (i.e. no interior at all, which is quite a bit of weight):

Hope this helps.

I also have 620 1" drop coils - I have 5 leaf mid-eye springs from Laurel Mountain Mustang. It sits pretty level as you can see in the picture.

THANKS JESSE AND BUDDA! That was kinda the info I was looking for. I am only 45 min from NPD gainsville. Will save on shipping and I have several things to return to them. So getting the springs from NPD will kill 2 birds with one stone and allow me to use up the credit on the rerturns. Probably will drive up there on wed. Thanks again everyone!

Did you do the shelby drop too?
