Lentech neccesary for my AOD???

I am presently having to rebuild my AOD before planned due to it getting fried 2 weeks ago. I am going ahead and build it so it will coincide with the motor I am installing this spring. My setup is going to run mid 11's on motor and mid 10's on the juice. Do i need to get the lentech valve body to eliminate the OD so i can shift straight through the gears? Rather than having to drop it back down afer it goes into second so it won't go into 3rd too soon? I am trying to save a few bucks and I don't see the neccesity for the lentech other than convenience. thanks for the input.

Well if you're still doing the "AOD Shuffle" thats a good reason why your tranny is shot. Shifting back down to 1st quick in order to hold 2nd is a HUGE NO NO on an AOD, it kills the OD band. You'd need the Lentech valve body in order to properly hold 2nd gear without wearing stuff out.
